I'm deeply committed to practicing in a way that respects and celebrates neurodiversity, along with the many other forms of human diversity. I'm critical of traditional models that position professionals as the "experts" and that pathologize human experience.
For me, a neurodiversity-affirming approach means genuinely listening and seeking to understand each person’s full, nuanced experience—not just interpreting behaviours from the outside, but connecting with and reflecting on their internal world.
I believe that people are the experts in their own lives. My role is to create a safe, inclusive, and accessible space where we can explore experiences, challenges, strengths, and joys together. I also try to stay mindful of the bigger picture—the social and cultural contexts that shape how we experience the world—and how these factors influence mental health and well-being.
I have 16 years of experience in health and social care, working across learning disabilities, homelessness, substance use, mental health, and neurodevelopmental assessment. Over the past four years, I’ve focused on autism assessment and exploring how cognition, mental health, and neurodevelopmental differences intersect.
As a multiply neurodivergent person (Autistic, ADHD, PDA, and Dyslexic), I stay actively connected to neurodivergent communities and research. My key interests include neurodiversity-affirming practice, autistic mental health, and fostering autistic community and joy. I’m deeply committed to understanding people’s lived experiences through an intersectional lens.
I’m passionate about creating accessible, inclusive, and collaborative therapeutic assessment spaces where people feel genuinely seen and heard. I aim to make the assessment process meaningful and supportive, offering flexible adjustments to meet each individual’s needs.
Alongside assessment work, I provide post-diagnostic support for individuals exploring their neurodivergent identities, helping build self-compassion and develop self-advocacy through both professional insight and lived experience. I also work as a Co-Production and Engagement Specialist for a disability charity, and regularly facilitate training, reflective spaces, and supervision for professionals., were my focus is on encouraging critical reflection around values in practice, with an emphasis on neurodiversity-affirming and anti-oppressive approaches.
Professional interests or research areas:
- Intersectionality and culturally competent practice
- Neurodiversity affirming practice
- Autistic mental health
- Autistic community and joy
- Anti racism
- Coproduction and participatory action research
- Disability justice

I’m a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and post-doctoral researcher, with over a decade of experience working with children and young people with language difficulties. In 2022, she completed a doctorate at City, University of London, exploring the impact of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) on the development of Working Memory and Inner Speech.
Passionate about building a strong evidence base for functional, person-centred therapy, I transitioned from a role in a large inner London NHS trust to focus on specialist work alongside my academic pursuits and teaching (I’m also a Clinical Tutor at City St George’s and Greenwich Universities). I particularly focus on neuroaffirmative practice, especially autism identification, across all ages.
I enjoy delivering practical, family-centred interventions and am trained in programs such as Hanen More Than Wordsand TalkAbility. I also run a weekly stay-and-play session in south-east London for families concerned about their child’s language development. The group includes singing, signing, and storytelling, as well as space for tips, reassurance, and connection.
I like to bring a cheerful, positive energy to my work and aim to offer realistic, tailored advice that fits each family’s everyday life.

Amy is a neurodivergent clinician with experience working therapeutically with neurodivergent clients across all age groups. She has worked in neurodevelopmental assessment (ADHD and autism) for the NHS, charities and private companies. After working within the medical model for some time, Amy came to understand that the established method of identifying neurodivergence is restrictive, ableist and ignores lived experience. In addition, she noticed that many standardised assessments were not designed to accommodate masking or camouflaging, and women and girls were often missed or misdiagnosed.
Amy founded The Autism Clinic in 2021 to offer an alternative service which places clients at the heart of the process, supporting people to understand and celebrate their neurodivergence as a natural and valid way of thinking and being.
Amy is a member of the Autism Diagnostic Clinical Excellence Network and the Therapist Neurodiversity Collective. She is committed to pro-neurodiversity focused interventions and methodologies in everything she does.
