The Autism Clinic

We offer both virtual autism and ADHD assessment for people living anywhere in the UK and in-person appointments in our clinic in Paignton, Devon. Our assessments are available for adults and children aged 7 and above.

At The Autism Clinic, we provide a gold-standard autism assessment service, following the guidelines recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). This ensures our process is thorough, evidence-based, and rooted in best clinical practice.

We are proud to be one of the few services in the UK and Ireland that is fully neuroaffirmative. This means we recognise and celebrate neurodivergence throughout every stage of the process. Our team does not use a medical model or deficit-based language. Instead, we support each client to explore their own unique profile of strengths and differences, always honouring and affirming the lived experience of you or your child

Women and girls are often missed or misdiagnosed.  We are experts at recognising and diagnosing female and non-standard presentation autism in adults and children

We are committed to identifying and celebrating the strengths of neurodivergent people everywhere.  Many of our clinicians are neurodivergent and all are committed to improving outcomes for neurodivergent people by offering a compassionate high-quality and professional service.  Our assessments are flexible, meaning that we may use formal assessment tools, interviews or a combination of both, depending on the client and their individual needs.  You will receive a clinical report and a strengths-based report after your assessment, which will help you to reframe your life with a new understanding of yourself.

Our assessments are offered by experienced HCPC registered professionals and delivered by a multi-disciplinary team with a minimum of two clinicians.  Assessment of children includes a young person's interview and developmental history and is specific to the individual needs of your child.  Adult assessments are based around a collaborative discussion and can include a family member or friend for support.  We can offer a number of additional assessments including speech and language and occupational therapy at your request.

We can offer reports and recommendations for education and other services.  We can also offer reports and recommendations for therapy, including speech and language and occupational therapy. We have links with local services and clinicians and can offer signposting and referrals
